At Richmond English School we offer Cambridge English exam preparation courses at a wide variety of levels and are proud of our high pass rate. Cambridge courses are very popular because they give you real life communication skills besides preparing you for the exam.
Maximize your chances by taking part in one of our special exam practice classes, or focus on your listening and speaking skills in one of our specialist afternoon classes. We mark all written work free of charge according to the Cambridge marking system, and you may submit as much as you wish.
The key Cambridge courses we offer are:
Cambridge English: Preliminary (PET) – B1, Intermediate Level
This intermediate level qualification shows you can ask a variety of questions, take part in simple conversations and write emails and letters in English on subjects you are familiar with. Perfect for those wishing to improve from high beginner to intermediate.
Cambridge English: First (FCE) – B2, Upper Intermediate Level
Cambridge First Certificate shows that you can work competently in an English speaking environment and/or live independently somewhere whose main language is English. Although not the highest level, the First Certificate is regarded by many as the most important of the Cambridge English Exam suite.
Cambridge English: Advanced – C1, Advanced Level
For those ambitious about their studies, Advanced English shows you can use English to a very high level in social, academic and corporate situations, and is accepted as proof of competence in the English language by some of the world’s leading companies and Universities.
IELTS International English Language Testing System 7+
Our IELTS course prepares candidates for the IELTS Academic Exam, one of the world’s most popular English tests for Higher Education. The course is primarily for those who want to enroll on UK University courses, and also for professionals such as Medical Doctors or Dentists, who need to demonstrate they have met the language requirements enabling them to practise their profession in an English-speaking country. Our IELTS course is designed for those who need a minimum Band Score of 7.
Occupational English Test
Our OET course is for you if you want to work in Nursing in the UK. It provides students with real healthcare scenarios so they can learn the English they will need for their everyday work. OET tests the 4 language skills of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. All healthcare professionals take the same listening and reading test, but the Writing and Speaking components are specific to a profession, and at Richmond English Live we teach the Nursing syllabus.
Courses are taught intensively for 5 hours a day and each course runs for 1 week. Please note that this is an intensive exam preparation course. The UK Nursing and Midwifery Council currently require that applicants achieve a grade B in all four components of their OET (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking), which is equivalent to Cambridge C1 Advanced Level.
